Leapmotor is now built in Europe — what that means for owners
Leapmotor's B10 electric SUV now rolls out of a factory in Spain, and the brand's backing is growing. Here's why that matters if you own or are eyeing one.
A Chinese brand, a European factory
Leapmotor started as a Chinese EV maker, but its cars are no longer only built in China. Stellantis — the group behind Peugeot, Fiat, Opel and more — produces the Chinese-developed Leapmotor B10 electric SUV at its Zaragoza plant in Spain. Building it locally streamlines the supply chain and sidesteps the tariffs the EU has put on imported Chinese electric vehicles.
Stellantis is pushing hard for local manufacturing
Stellantis recently joined Volkswagen and Renault in backing the EU's "Made in Europe" framework, which aims to protect and grow local car manufacturing. The group is calling for a clear benchmark where 70% of vehicles sold in the EU meet high local content and production requirements. It has also flagged a new affordable electric car project, set to be produced at the Pomigliano d'Arco plant in Italy by 2028.

What this means for Leapmotor owners
Backing from a giant like Stellantis is good news for anyone who already owns a Leapmotor. A stable, well-supported brand is far more likely to keep spare parts, servicing knowledge and accessories flowing for years — which is exactly what you want from a newer brand on Australian roads. It also signals the models are here to stay rather than being a short-lived import.
